Noise Complications Force ISCARS to Forego October 14 Shenandoah Event

ORMOND BEACH, FL (September 29, 2006) – Due to extremely stringent noise restrictions by county officials, the scheduled seventh event of the eight-race ISCARS Dash Touring season at Shenandoah Speedway in Virginia has been cancelled. Originally scheduled for October 14, the event will not be rescheduled.

Track owner, Jeff Vaughn, did not give a clear answer as to their intentions on whether the event was on as scheduled, but had removed it from their website. ISCARS President Randy Claypoole decided it was in the best interest of the teams to not leave them hanging in limbo. “There was too much at stake for this event to not give the teams a definitive answer,” said Claypoole. “I wanted to spare them the expense of adding mufflers if we were no longer going to be scheduled to race there.”

ISCARS did receive an email from track management explaining that the track was in the process of asking the county for a variance. The email also mentioned that the county had place the sound meter along the property line at its closest proximity to the track. “It was our understanding that we were within compliance during our event in July. This is frustrating for all involved because we lose a planned event, fans lose a much anticipated race, and we have teams that have prepared for this event since July," commented Claypoole. "I am sure Jeff has been through a lot on this deal and we support his efforts and hope that the local community will embrace this fine speedway."

ISCARS Dash Touring will continue its season in less than two weeks at Hickory Motor Speedway on October 7 for the ISCARS Firecracker 150. The season finale will take place on October 28 at Florence Motor Speedway in South Carolina.
