Mother Nature Strikes Again

ISCARS Public Relations
July 12, 2009

Rougemont, NC - Qualifying was complete and the ISCARS DASH Touring teams were just told to start staging their cars on the front stretch at Orange County Speedway when sprinkles of rain began to fall. It rained for about 30 minutes and then track drying was under way. Another quick shower delayed the process. Just as it appeared the track surface was close to being ready to go, the news came that a much larger line of showers was fast approaching the speedway.

Kim Foushee, GM for Orange County Speedway, John Kee and Micky Cain with the Southeast Asphalt Tour, Randy Claypoole and Robert Black of ISCARS viewed the radar and determined it was best to reschedule the event.

As drivers received the new lightening was seen near by. "Rainouts hurt everyone," states Randy Claypoole, President of ISCARS. But, we cannot crontrol nature and you just have to respond to the circumstances.

Track and Race Officials agreed to reschedule the races for Saturday, August 22nd. "We understand that is the same day as the NASCAR Sprint Cup event at Bristol. So we're going to plan for the races to begin mid-afternoon and give the fans a chance to be back home to watch the Bristol event.
