AMBROSE STILL #1 AT SBR

Stone Brothers Racing
May 11, 2011

Two-time V8 Supercar Champion, Marcos Ambrose has reaffirmed his loyalty to Stone Brothers Racing by becoming the team’s #1 Membership Holder. Ambrose, who still remains in close contact with Team Owners, Ross and Jimmy Stone, will be the official patron of the SBR Supporter Club.

"I'm really proud to be an official member of the Stone Brothers Racing Supporters Club. The SBR team made me who I am as a race car driver today. We enjoyed great success and had a lot of fun along the way. This club is a great way for me to stay connected to Ross, Jimmy and the team," said Ambrose.

“Obviously we enjoyed plenty of success with Marcos during his time at SBR so it’s great to have him as still part of the team in some capacity. Jimmy and I talk with him regularly and keep an eye on his progress in NASCAR. It has been exciting to watch his career develop over the years, he has definitely lead the way for future Aussies looking to make a move into stock car racing overseas,” said Ross.

“The SBR Supporter Club was established last year and both Jimmy and I have been overwhelmed by the response. Having Marcos as part of the membership program is a fantastic way to have him connected to our loyal supporters, with many of them still being passionate Ambrose fans.”

Starting out his V8 Supercar career in 2001 with SBR, Ambrose quickly became a contender and in 2003 put an end to the era of Holden dominance winning the first Championship for Ford since 1997.

After five years together and an enviable record in the sport Ambrose departed SBR at the end of 2005 when he made the shock announcement he had plans to pursue a career in NASCAR, and ever since has left Ford fans wondering whether he will make a return to V8 Supercar racing.

“Jimmy and I get asked alot whether Marcos will return to Australia to race V8 Supercars again. I know for now he is 100% committed to NASCAR but you never know.” said Stone.
