VOA Breaking News (Voice of America)

Authorities in eastern Afghanistan say at least 50 people have been killed in a collision between a passenger bus and a truck.

Friday's crash occurred in Ghazni province on the highway that connects the southern city of Kandahar with the Afghan capital, Kabul.

Officials say the two vehicles burst into flames after colliding in the Ab Band District. Women and children were among the dead and several people were wounded.

Elsewhere in the east, NATO said an insurgent attack killed one of its service members on Thursday.
