Some cops DO hit deer

Gus Philpott
Woodstock Advocate
January 6, 2014

Contrary to local opinions that, when a cop wrecks a car and says he swerved to avoid a deer, there really wasn't a deer, here is evidence that in at least one case there was a deer. And the emphasis is on the word "was".

Friend and author Ken Rossignol (in Maryland) publishes The Chesapeake, an online newspaper that was established after his successful twenty years of publishing St. Mary's Today. Ken is an author of mysteries and also an accomplished author and lecturer on the history of the Titanic.

On December 31, 2013, at 7: AM St. Mary's County (Md.) Sgt. Robert Russell had a thrilling ride after hitting a deer. His squad car left the roadway and overturned into a water-filled ditch. Fortunately, Sgt. Russell survived.
