Radar ahead - flash headlights?

Radar ahead - flash headlights?

Gus Philpott

Is it okay to flash your headlights at oncoming traffic to warn drivers of a police radar operation ahead of them?

The question really is, is it illegal to do so?

In Ellisville, Mo. police ticketed a driver who hadn't had a ticket for 35 years. With the ACLU's help, he fought the $1,000 ticket, and he won. Flashing headlights is "protected speech" under the First Amendment. Read all about it here.

Congratulations to Michael Elli for not rolling over and playing dead for Ellisville PD.
