BOOK REVIEW: McLAREN!  THE MAN, THE CARS & THE TEAM

Ed Monroe
Antique Automobile
March-April 1972

by Eoin S. Young

272 pages, 6 x 9 inches.  Well illustrated.  Bond, Parkhurst Publications, 1499 Monrovia Avenue, Newport Beach, California 92663.  Hardbound; $7.95 postpaid.

This is the story of Bruce McLaren and the racing team he founded.  Best known as the team that has dominated the Can-Am series of sports car races, this organization has, in addition, been most active in other classes, from Formula I to Indianapolis.

The author, Eoin S. Young, a regular contributor to Road & Track, is still a part of McLaren Racing.  In this book he has paid a fitting tribute to his long-time friend by compiling a splendid biography of the person who was the moving force behind it all.

McLaren!  The Man, the Cars & the Team is illustrated with nearly 200 halftones, including photographs and specifications of all the McLaren cars by type number, from the M1A-Olds of 1964 to the M19 of 1971.  In short, an excellent book covering the modern automobile racing scene.
