New Mile Record for Motor.

SALT LAKE, Utah, July 25.—At the Sale Palace Saucer track last night Charles and Clem Turnville of Philadelphia stripped a full second off the world's record for one mile on a motor tandem. The mile was made in 1:33 flat. The record heretofore has been held by McFarland and Stevens, who made the mile in 1:34, at Los Angeles last Winter.

Child Killed by Truck.

George Dingman, a four-year-old child, of 35 Montrose Avenue, Brooklyn, was knocked down in the street in front his home about 7 o'clock last night by a truck, and was instantly killed. One of the wheels of the truck passed over the child's chest. The driver went on without stopping. Bystanders said the truck belonged to the American Tobacco Company, at 507 West Twenty-second Street, Manhattan.
