YONKER'S STEAM VEHICLE LAW.

YONKER'S STEAM VEHICLE LAW.

The New York Times
June 17, 1900

None May Be Operated There Without a City License.

YONKERS, N. Y., June 16.—The Board of Boiler Inspectors adopted a resolution to-night that hereafter no steam vehicle can be operated within the city limits without a license from the Boiler Inspectors.  This means that every steam automobile taken through this city must have a licensed operator on it, no matter where the vehicle comes from.

The new law went into effect to-night, and the Chief of Police issued an order for the arrest of every man running a steam vehicle without the necessary permit.  Hundreds of steam vehicles pass through this city on Sunday, and many arrests are expected to-morrow.  The penalty is a fine ranging from $5 to $50.
