Impaired Driving Among Youth Persons

Impaired driving among youth has been on the increase and statistics all over the world point towards this fact. The number of motor vehicle crashes done under the influence of alcohol results in individuals losing their license. Each year the numbers of fatalities caused by underage drivers are recorded by police officers.

The effect of alcohol on the body will vary from one individual to the other. There is a legal limit to the amount of alcohol that a person can consume and drive. This limit varies from one state to the other. It is also different in various countries. It is important that youth gain knowledge about the various limits that are specified in the state they live in.

As a person starts drinking, it will lead to an increase in the level of liquor in the blood. This will impair their thinking and prevent them from taking correct decisions while on the road. Most young drivers who go to bars or attend parties end up getting drunk beyond permissible limits and it is advisable that they avoid driving back home.

A growing number of young celebrities have also been found to be operating under the influence of these intoxicated substances and their licenses have been suspended. Most of the motor crashes that happen each year are fatal or they can cause serious physical damage to the driver and other occupants in the car or any other vehicle that they were using. In some cases innocent bystanders can be killed or seriously injured in such accidents.

The different types of accidents that happen during night time is much greater than those that happen during the day. There are more male drivers who drive under the influence of liquor than women. Although the legal age for men and women is 21 in most countries, it would be best if they avoid operating while drunk.

There are a numerous set of strict laws that regulate drunken driving and these stipulate that there will be zero tolerance towards anyone who drinks and drives beyond the permissible levels. An interesting fact about drunk driving is that most young people involved in these car crashes had failed to put on their safety belts.

Due to sustained campaigning against drunken driving the number of fatal accidents has come down but there is still a significant number of young people who either die or get seriously injured in such crashes.

While most youngsters do change their habits after been arrested there are some habitual offenders who not just risk their lives but that of others too. Most of the road accidents that occur each year have been found to be under the influence of some type of intoxicated substance.

The human body will not be able to respond well in an intoxicated state. Due to this youngsters will not be able to observe the changing traffic lights correctly and end up crashing the vehicle. They also tend to become over confident and fail to observe the various safety rules while operating.
