Rosebud Man Indicted for Manslaughter

U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of South Dakota
July 14, 2011

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that Christopher L. Two Lance, age 28, of Rosebud, was indicted by a federal grand jury on July 12, 2011, for two charges of involuntary manslaughter. He appeared before United States Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno on July 14, 2011, and pled not guilty to the indictment. The maximum penalty upon conviction is 16 years’ imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, or both. The charges are merely accusations, and Two Lance is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

The investigation is being conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services. Assistant United States Attorney Tim Maher is prosecuting the case. Two Lance was released to substance abuse treatment pending trial. A trial date has not yet been set.
