Arizona Man Sentenced to 22 Years for Armed Carjacking

BIRMINGHAM—A federal judge today sentenced an Arizona man to 22 years in prison for a February carjacking in Reform, announced U.S. Attorney Joyce White Vance and FBI Special Agent in Charge Patrick J. Maley.

Along with the prison sentence, U.S. District Judge R. David Proctor ordered STACY DRAKE, 36, of Phoenix, Ariz., to serve five years’ supervised release after the prison term is completed. He also ordered DRAKE to pay $2,500 restitution to the victim for his car.

Drake was convicted in May on charges of carjacking, felon in possession of a firearm, and brandishing a firearm during the carjacking. According to court records, Gordo Police arrested Drake on Feb. 21 for holding a man at gunpoint outside a store in Reform and taking the man’s wallet and 1993 GMC Sonoma truck. They made the arrest after DRAKE led the police on a high-speed chase down Pickens County Road 63 before wrecking the stolen car.

Gordo Police and the FBI investigated the case.
