Berlin Raceway, Marne, Michigan

Race Information: Event: Berlin ARCA RE/MAX 200; Saturday, July 26 at 8:30 p.m. Local Time Track: Berlin Raceway Qualifying: Saturday, July 26 at 5:00 p.m. Local Time; Track Length: .4-mile paved-oval.

Kentucky Recap: Returning to Kentucky Speedway for the second time this season, Sheltra Motorsports was looking to better their seventh place finish from the Drive Smart! Buckle-Up Kentucky 150 in May. After qualifying 11th on a very slick and slippery 1.5-mile speedway, Sheltra found himself in the top-10 for a majority of the night before being involved in a late race incident which relegated the Whitesville, Kentucky team to a disappointing 31st place finish.

Glad To Have You Here: Sheltra Motorsports welcomes Boatwerks Waterfront Restaurant who will serve as the primary marketing partner on the team’s No. 60 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS for Saturday night’s thriller at Berlin Raceway. Sitting on the shores of Lake Macatawa and being downtown Holland’s only waterfront restaurant, Boatwerks Waterfront Restaurant offers family friendly casual dining, waterfront views, indoor and outdoor dining, banquet facilities, catering services and a convenient full menu takeout. Before turning his attention towards the race on Saturday, Sheltra will sign autographs at Boatwerks Waterfront Restaurant on Friday, July 25th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Boatwerks Waterfront Restaurant is located at 216 VanRaalte Avenue in Holland, Michigan. For information, please call 616.396.0600.

Rewinding Back To Freshman Year: In his inaugural season of ARCA RE/MAX Series competition, Patrick Sheltra made his Berlin Raceway debut last July in impressive fashion. After practicing very comfortably in the top-10, Sheltra found himself 17th on the starting grid. The Indiantown, Florida native wasted no time getting to the front. When the checkered flag flew, Sheltra crossed the line fourth notching his first career top-five finish in ARCA competition.

Testing In Music City: Before putting the final touches on their Berlin Raceway automobile, Sheltra Motorsports headed two and a half hours south to Lebanon, Tennessee to participate in the open ARCA RE/MAX Series test at Nashville Superspeedway this past Tuesday. Under hot and humid conditions, Sheltra unofficially posted the ninth fastest time behind the wheel of his No. 60 Ferguson Pipe Enterprises-FloraGanics Dodge. The team is working diligently on bettering their machine in preparation for the TOYOTA ARCA 150 set for Saturday, August 9th.

Busy Schedule: Following the Berlin ARCA RE/MAX 200, Patrick Sheltra will hop on a plane and head to Milwaukee, Wisconsin and participate in a three-day Skip Barber Racing driving school next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at Road America. Sheltra will utilize the school to prepare himself for the upcoming road course event at New Jersey Motorsports Park in September. Fellow ARCA driver Ken Butler, III will join Sheltra before the two board a plane Thursday morning and head to Pocono Raceway for next Saturday’s Pennsylvania 200.

Nice Stat: Just past halfway in the 2008 ARCA RE/MAX Series, Sheltra Motorsports has fielded a car for Patrick Sheltra that has run in the top-10 for all 11 events thus far this season. The team has amassed one top-five with a runner-up at Toledo Speedway while holding four additional top-10 finishes. The team’s season best qualifying effort came at Kansas Speedway where Sheltra awarded himself with a career best run of eighth. The team has led two races at Kansas Speedway and Cayuga Motor Speedway for a total of 15 laps.

A Family Affair: Stepping in this weekend at Berlin Raceway as the catch-can man will be Patrick Sheltra’s older brother Richard Sheltra. The elder Sheltra was a former racecar driver but stepped aside so younger brother Patrick could live out his dream. The 25-year old Richard Sheltra also coincidently shares the same birthday (04.01.1983) as Sheltra Motorsports Public Relations Representative Chris Knight with the two separated by just 12 minutes.

Join The Fan Club: Sheltra Motorsports has launched a Patrick Sheltra Fan Club and it’s absolutely free! Race fans can log onto to PatrickSheltra.com and fill out the form and you’re an immediate member. Receive press releases, autograph cards, a chance to come to a race and much more!

Watcha Haulin?: Crew Chief John Hayden has elected to bring Sheltra chassis number 4156 to Berlin Raceway this weekend. This is the same automobile that Sheltra Motorsports competed with at Iowa Speedway (April), Toledo Speedway (May) and most recently at Cayuga Motor Speedway (June) this year. It is also the same piece that Sheltra Motorsports finished seventh with in the season finale at Toledo Speedway last year. Chassis number 4145 will serve as the team’s back-up automobile. Sheltra ran that former ppc Racing entry at Springfield (Illinois State Fairgrounds), DuQuoin State Fairgrounds and Berlin Raceway last year.

Point Standings: After round 11 on the 2008 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule, Patrick Sheltra sits 10th in the championship standings accumulating 2,145 points. Sheltra is 230 markers from moving into the fifth position currently held by ARCA veteran Justin Allgaier. 515 credits separate Sheltra from the points lead held by SunTrust Rookie-of-the-Year candidate Ricky Stenhouse, Jr.

Sheltra Motorsports, Berlin Raceway Pre-Race Quotes:
Patrick Sheltra, driver of the No. 60 Boatwerks Waterfront Restaurant Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS:

On Kentucky: “I thought we were really going to have a good night and it went the other way just as quick. I am proud of my race team for once again giving me a fantastic racecar, we just had some bad luck out on the track. We’ll move forward and put Kentucky in the rearview mirror.”

On Returning To Berlin Raceway: “Oh man, this just might be our weekend. I am looking forward to Saturday night’s race. We had a really good run at Berlin Raceway last year and we’re bringing a better car hoping for better results. Don’t be surprised if we land in victory lane this weekend.”

On Berlin Raceway New Marketing Partner Boatwerks Waterfront Restaurant: “We’re super excited to have Boatwerks Waterfront Restaurant onboard for Berlin this weekend. They have great food and a great atmosphere, so it’s a win-win situation, not to mention they are severe racing fans. There will be a bunch of representatives from the restaurant coming on Saturday and I hope we can give them the performance they can be satisfied with.”

On The Skip Barber Racing School Next Week: “Not really sure what to expect just yet. I’m looking forward to the challenge but I’m also a little nervous about turning left and right. On the flip side, I get to hang out with KB3 (Ken Butler, III) so it will be cool being there with another ARCA driver. My main priority though is to stay on the racetrack.”

Sheltra Motorsports, Berlin Raceway Pre-Race Quotes:
Grace Sheltra, owner of the No. 60 Boatwerks Waterfront Restaurant Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS:

On Berlin: “This is one of our best chances to get to victory lane. We’re also excited about Berlin Raceway this weekend. Patrick ran real good there last year and we feel we can do the same again this weekend. We’re also excited to have Boatwerks Waterfront Restaurant onboard and really appreciate their support of our race team.”

On Night Racing: “It’s a lot of fun to race the short tracks especially under the lights. When Patrick runs on the dirt a majority of his races are run in dark and usually provides some of the best racing. This will be the second straight week that ARCA has run at night and I think it will be one of the best shows of the season.”
