Two Charged in String of Carjackings

Steven Catlett was charged today in a nine-count Indictment1 alleging that between November 1 and November 3, 2009, he committed a string of carjackings in southwest Philadelphia, in many cases using a Harrington & Richardson shotgun, Model Topper 3, serial number BA544994, with a shortened barrel and sawed off stock, announced United States Attorney Zane David Memeger. Defendant Andre Robinson is also charged with one of those carjackings.

If convicted Catlett faces a maximum sentence of life imprisonment, with a mandatory minimum of 35 years’ imprisonment, five years of supervised release, a $2,000,000 fine, and an $800 special assessment. Robinson faces a maximum sentence of 15 years’ imprisonment, three years of supervised release, a $250,000 fine, and a $100 special assessment. The case was investigated by agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Philadelphia Police Department, and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Arlene Fisk.
