September 14th 2012 - FONTANA, Calif. -- Ed Carpenter may have shown Friday night what he has for Saturday night at Auto Club Speedway.

The team owner/driver of the No. 20 Fuzzy's Ultra Premium Vodka Chevrolet posted the fastest speed of the final practice session in the early evening tonight with a speed of 215.768 miles per hour in the 45-minute practice in preparation for Saturday's 250-lap MAVTV 500, the final race of the 15-event IZOD IndyCar Series.

Carpenter worked primarily on his full tank runs early in the session, recording a 210.279 mph after 25 laps. We was just 14th at that point in the runs.

However, the ECR/Fuzzy's crew made a small adjustment to the front suspension and it seemed to be to Ed's liking.

After Wade Cunningham slammed the turn two in AJ Foyt's machine with just five left in the session, Carpenter snapped off consecutive laps of 213.871 and 215.768 that shot the No. 20 to the top of the scoring pylon (see photo).

Helio Castroneves was second fastest at 215.108 followed by Scott Dixon at 215.053 and Tony Kanaan at 214.064.

The MAVTV 500 telecast will begin Saturday at 4:30 p.m. PDT with the green flag set to drop at 5:50 p.m.
