Charged With Embezzlement as Pittsburg's Highway Superintendent.

PITTSBURG, July 6.—Samuel T. Paisley, at one time Superintendent of Public Highways and Street Repairs, against whom there was a charge of embezzlement of over $50,000, is dead at Newport News, Va. He was in the service of the city in different capacities for twenty-five years previous to the discovery of his shortage in May last.

Before any prosecution could be commenced he suddenly left the city, since which time no definite information concerning him had been made public until the announcement of his death last night.
