MID-AMERICAN THUNDER WILL ECHO IN THE HILLS OF LACROSSE

Mid American Stock Car Series
August 15, 2014

LAWNKeepers of LaCrosse will present Mid-American drivers and teams Saturday, August 16, to the fans and friends at LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway. The Mid-Am teams will be bringing their “A” game to the famed 5/8-mile oval at the fairgrounds in West Salem, WI. Many will be using the opportunity to prepare for the 45th running of legendary Oktoberfest at LAX this fall.

LAWNKeepers is a complete array of lawn and yard management services covering a broad greater LaCrosse area in Wisconsin and Minnesota. Owner/President, Tom McClintock, is a familiar name at the LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway. He has participated at many events at his home track and he’s done it in several classes. McClintock even wielded a Mid-Am car for a few years. “I enjoy the Mid-American Series and am glad to help bring them to LAX”, McClintock says. “Mid-American always brings competitive racing, it will be a good show.”

Coming into the event, the top three in Mid-Am points are divided by 70 points, equal to 10th in qualifying and 9th position in the feature worth of points. Jeff Holtz of Franksville, WI leads two past Champions, Lyle Nowak of Wausau, WI and Jeremy Spoonmore of Somonauk, IL in the quest for the brass ring. The season opener set the pace for the three with Holtz leading Spoonmore and Nowak to the flag. Since then Holtz hasn’t looked back. Holtz has raced Mid-American for a number of years and has come of his own this season.

Wily veterans, Nowak and Spoonmore won’t give it to Holtz easily. With four races remaining you can expect the savvy and experience of the champions will make Holtz earn each and every position on the track and in the points.

Others to watch are Kenny Joosten who keeps clawing his way through the pack, 2013 Mid-Am Rookie of the Year and a LaCrosse favorite, Dan Gilster as well another Illinois native, Scott Dunning. Joosten puts every ounce of his mount through its paces. Let’s say it’s Joosten’s ‘true grit’ that brings him in at fourth in points. Fifth in points this weekend, Gilster has track advantage with most likely the most laps of any Mid-Am contender at LAX. Expect him to be near the front on Saturday. Dunning decided to commit to run the series schedule for the first time this season. His talent and determination brings him into this race sixth in points.

Another local favorite will be Dan Gilster’s brother, Jimmy. Jimmy will be making his Mid-Am debut in a car out of the same stable as his brother. Jimmy could be the sleeper in the equation Saturday, as he also has many laps on LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway.

Join us for the action this Saturday, August 16th at LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway. The hiway is I-90, the exit is 12. For race and Speedway info see http://lacrossespeedway.com/. Follow Mid-American at www.midamericanracing.com.
