WEEKEND DOUBLER HEADER ON TAP FOR MID-AMERICAN STOCK CAR SERIES

An exciting double-header weekend is on tap this weekend for the racers of the Mid-American Stock Car Series, with the series visiting two of the most historic bullrings in the state of Wisconsin.

Thursday evening July 10, for the third time in series history, the Mid-American Stock Car Series makes the trip north to State Park Speedway, located just outside of Wausau. Then Sunday evening July 13, the series makes its first-ever trip to Slinger Super Speedway to be part of the ‘Prelude to the Nationals’ event, held just two days before the prestigious ‘Slinger Nationals’ Super Late Model race. The event at Slinger is presented in part by Krebs Trucking of Hartford. Yes, that would be Mid-American’s car 80 Dusty Krebs and family. Thank you Dusty!

The crew at Sopwith Motorsports will film both events for broadcast on cable television. Sopwith filmed series events earlier this season at Wisconsin International Raceway and the Milwaukee Mile. The series’ upcoming stops at Elko Speedway (September 20) and LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway (October 4) are also slated to be filmed by Sopwith Motorsports for a later re-air. Wisconsin Time Warner Sports Channel has contracted to time delay air all 6 events.

Coming into this weekend, the battle for the Mid-American Stock Car Series championship continues to be a close one. Jeff Holtz leads the series standings by 23 over former champion Lyle Nowak, who tasted victory during the most recent stop on the 2014 tour at Jefferson (WI) Speedway. Two more former series champions, Jeremy Spoonmore and Mark Pluer, sit third and fourth in the standings respectively, with Kenny Joosten rounding out the top five.

Jeff Holtz leads a “Fast Pack” of at least seven teams that have committed to the full 2014 Mid-American season for the first time, at least in recent years. Kenny Joosten - Wonder Lake, IL, Scott Dunning - Bolingbrook, IL, Erik Pierce - Crystal Lake, IL, Ben Glascock - Indianola, IA , Greg Beebe - Waukesha, WI, David Slack - Engadine, MI round out the “Fast Pack”. All but Slack, who missed one race due to illness, have run all events and are in the top twelve. Joosten holds a stout fifth position, an engine change at Milwaukee keeps Dunning in seventh and the long haul each week for Glascock pays off with an eleventh place position. Beebe running twelfth and Slack seventeenth are the rookies.
