JEFFERSON, Georgia (April 5, 2012) - - April will be a busy month for Bixby, Oklahoma native Tanner Berryhill and the teenager is eager to get his Spring racing schedule underway when he returns to Gresham (Ga.) Motorsports Park for Saturday night’s running of the Beau Slocumb Memorial presented by US Auto Sales.

Tackling the North Georgia race track is nothing new to the 18-year old Berryhill. Despite always showing extreme speed in his Vision Racing-prepared machine, obstacles including power steering failure have kept the likable driver at bay and from taking a checkered flag at the historic short track.

This weekend however, the Mooresville, North Carolina-based team led by father Adrian Berryhill is confident in their No. 97 AmericashAdvance.com Chevrolet Impala and expect the rising star to be a factor on Saturday night.

“Gresham is absolutely one of my favorite race tracks, so I’m always excited to race there,” said Berryhill. “It’s a place that just fits my (racing) style. It’s a special race this weekend and (it) will undoubtedly draw a lot of attention for its meaning and special race circumstances. We have gone over our No. 97 AmericashAdvance.com Chevrolet with a fine-tooth comb and we believe with a little luck, we have a grand opportunity to shine during the race and hopefully have a chance at winning the race.”

Berryhill, who lifted off his 2012 racing season in the annual Chili Bowl competition added, “This team thrives on determination and desire. We know we’re capable of winning, but in order to win, you must first survive. We’ve been plagued in our last couple of races at Gresham, but despite the misfortune we continued to lead by example and fought our issues to take the checkered flag. We’ve survived, now we’re ready to step it up and exceed on Saturday night”

The second-annual Beau Slocumb Memorial presented by US Auto Sales consists of 208 laps broken-up into three racing segments. The first segment will consist of 100 green flag laps while the second segment will last just 75 green flag circuits. The final segment matched up at 33 green flag laps will be considered a late-race dash for the win in the season-opening event.

“The race this weekend is like the Spring version of the World Crown 300,” sounded Berryhill. “So, while there’s a lot at stake, you have to pick and choose your battles but most importantly stay on the lead lap, so you’re around for the third segment, where it counts the most. One thing if for certain; it will be an exciting show for the fans.”

Following Gresham, the team will turn their attention back towards their NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) program which is scheduled to lift off near the end of the month at Richmond (Va.) International Raceway where Berryhill is expected to make his NNS debut.

“While we’ve been working on our Late Model program, we’ve also stayed focused on our Nationwide car,” Berryhill added. “The team is excited about making our return to the series, especially at a place like Richmond.”

Action at Gresham (Ga.) Motorsports Park begins on Saturday, April 7 with opening ceremonies set for 5:25 p.m. Before the running of the Beau Slocumb Memorial presented by US Auto Sales, four other track divisions will take to the track to open up their respective 2012 seasons at GMP.

In addition to Late Models, Berryhill also has competed in USAC, the CARS Pro Cup Series (formally known as the USARacing Pro Cup Series), the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards and seven starts in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East Series.

Further details on the team’s Nationwide Series effort will be announced in the coming weeks.
