MANSFIELD, Ohio (June 20, 2009) - - Fresh off a win at Union County Speedway in Richmond, Indiana last night, veteran ARCA RE/MAX Series driver Patrick Sheltra with his Whitesville, Kentucky based Sheltra Motorsports team posted the 13th fastest effort Saturday afternoon at Mansfield Motorsports Park (MMP) in preparation for tonight’s Tim Richmond Memorial ARCA 200, the ninth installment of the 2009 season.

Sheltra entered the practice on the heels of a smooth testing session at the half-mile oval this past Monday where the team led by crew chief John Hayden tried to figure out the perfect setup that would allow Sheltra to earn his second career ARCA victory in tonight’s race.

“We’re loose in and tight off, but I’m not going to complain because I feel that we will be real good tonight,” said Sheltra. “I know we left some out on the table, so we’ll try and make up for that in our qualifying run.”

He added, “Qualifying up front here is going to be crucial. I’ve seen and heard that this place is all about track position. I think it’s going to be somewhat difficult to pass here tonight, so starting near the front better our chances to keep the Buffalo Wings & Rings car near the front.”

Sheltra who is piloting the same racecar he finished second with at Rockingham Speedway in April maneuvered his fastest lap at 17.002 seconds or 105.877 miles per hour.

The Indiantown, Florida native enters his first ever trip to MMP occupying the sixth position in the ARCA RE/MAX Series point standings.

Earlier today, Sheltra Motorsports drew the 26th position for Menards Pole by Ansell qualifying set to begin at 5:00 p.m. Eastern.

Entering Mansfield, Sheltra has 54 ARCA RE/MAX Series starts to his credit with one career victory at Salem Speedway (April 2009). During his ARCA tenure, Sheltra has accumulated nine top-fives and posted 18 top-10 finishes. A third place qualifying effort at Rockingham Speedway (April 2009) is Sheltra’s best time trials efforts to date. He has controlled the ARCA field five times for 109 laps.

The Tim Richmond Memorial ARCA 200 presented by National Speed Sport News (200 laps / 100 miles) is the ninth of 21 events on the 2009 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. The first ever ARCA race at Mansfield Motorsports Park is a one-day show. Menards Pole by Ansell qualifying is set for later in the day slated to begin at 5:00 p.m. The event will take the green flag shortly after 8:30 p.m. The event will not be televised however flag-to-flag coverage will be broadcasted live through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.com. All times are local.
