“Event Marks First Time Patrick Sheltra Captures Top-Honors”

TALLADEGA, Alabama (April 24, 2009) - - Patrick Sheltra in the No. 60 Buffalo Wings & Rings / BuckedUpApparel.com Dodge Charger posted the fastest time in ARCA RE/MAX Series “Happy Hour” Friday morning setting the tone for this afternoon’s ARCA RE/MAX 250 at Talladega Superspeedway.

Sheltra who emerged as the leader in a seven-car draft whipped his Grace Sheltra owned automobile to a time of 50.725 seconds at 188.783 miles per hour setting the fastest time of 21-cars that participated in practice effort.

It was the first time in his third year of ARCA competition that Sheltra controlled the top-spot in RE/MAX Series competition. Sheltra will be making his third Talladega start and fifth superspeedway appearance overall this afternoon.

“We’re tickled to death with the results of the Buffalo Wings & Rings / BuckedUpApparel.com Dodge Charger,” said Sheltra. “I believe our car is strong enough to rocket to the front in the race and we plan to stay there.”

The current ARCA RE/MAX Series points leader added, “We had several representatives from Buffalo Wings & Rings who experienced their first practice session ever in stock car racing, so to mount the fastest time just made my day that much better.”

Sheltra will start 11th in today’s ARCA RE/MAX 250, the fourth installment on the 2009 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. In last October’s ARCA RE/MAX 250 Sheltra led the field with two laps to go before being shuffled out of the draft before recovering to finish fifth.

Today’s event will also mark the return of Sheltra on a superspeedway since being involved in a horrendous accident in the ARCA season opener at Daytona International Speedway in February.

MTV’s Real World: Brooklyn cast member Scott Herman will be joining the Sheltra Motorsports team on pit road for the 94-lap event today. Herman, the Salem, New Hampshire native is experience his first taste of stock car racing this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway.

Entering Talladega, Sheltra has 49 ARCA RE/MAX Series starts to his credit with one career victory at Salem Speedway (April 2009). Sheltra also holds second place efforts at Rockingham Speedway (April 2009), Toledo Speedway (May 2008) and the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds (September 2008) with four additional top-five finishes, (fourth) at Toledo Speedway (October 2008), (fifth) at Talladega Superspeedway (October 2008), (third) at Illinois State Fairgrounds (August 2007) and (fourth) at Berlin Raceway (July 2007) while holding additional top-10s at Nashville Superspeedway (August 2008), Michigan International Speedway (June 2008), Kentucky Speedway (May 2008), Kansas Speedway (April 2008), Iowa Speedway (April 2008), Kentucky Speedway (June 2007), DuQuoin State Fairgrounds (September 2007) and Toledo Speedway (October 2007). A third place qualifying effort at Rockingham Speedway (April 2009) is Sheltra’s best time trials efforts to date. He has controlled the ARCA field five times for 109 laps.

The ARCA RE/MAX 250 (94 laps / 250 miles) is the fourth of 22 events on the 2009 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. The 47th ever ARCA race at Talladega Superspeedway is a two-day show. The event will take the green flag Friday afternoon shortly after 4:00 p.m. The race will be televised live on SPEED with additional live broadcasting available through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.com.
