ARCA RE/MAX Series Race No. 4, ARCA RE/MAX 250, Talladega Superspeedway, Talladega, Alabama

Race Information: Event: ARCA RE/MAX 250, Friday, April 24 at 4:00 p.m. Local Time Track: Talladega Speedway Qualifying: Thursday, April 23, at 5:05 p.m. Local Time Track Length: 2.66-mile paved oval.

Rockingham Recap: The third race of the 2009 ARCA RE/MAX Series season proved to be a great one for the Sheltra Motorsports team. After qualifying a career-best third driver Patrick Sheltra led eight laps and recovered from an ignition box switch to mount a second place finish in the ARCA RE/MAX Carolina 200 at Rockingham Speedway. The finish also surged Sheltra to the point’s lead tied with fellow driver Parker Klingerman. The result marked Sheltra’s second consecutive top-five finish of the season.

Last Year At Talladega: Sheltra, a native of Indiantown, Florida lost a heartbreaker when he was shuffled out of the draft with two laps to go and finished fifth. Sheltra started the event from the 26th position and brilliantly maneuvered through the “big one” which kept the Sheltra Motorsports team in the hunt for what would have been their first career victory. The result is Sheltra’s best superspeedway performance to date. He also led three laps of the ARCA RE/MAX 250 in just his second Talladega Superspeedway start.

The Buffalo’s On The Hood: For their third time this year and first on the hood, Sheltra Motorsports is proud to have Buffalo Wings & Rings on-board as the primary marketing partner for Friday’s ARCA RE/MAX 250. Known for it’s “Great Food; No Bull!” campaign, Buffalo Wings & Rings is the fastest-growing privately owned franchised chain of restaurants in the nation serving Buffalo-style chicken wings, onion rings, burgers, chicken and salads. Founded in 1988 in Cincinnati, Ohio, Buffalo Wings & Rings operates 44 franchised restaurants in the United States. Buffalo Wings & Rings was ranked the No. 1 fastest growing restaurant chain nationwide in the July 2008 issue of Restaurant Business, and ranked in the top 500 franchises in the January 2009 issue of Entrepreneur. Welcome To Our Real World: In addition to hosting Buffalo Wings & Rings as its primary marketing partner for the fourth race of the season, Sheltra Motorsports is also excited to have Scott Herman of this past season’s MTV’s Real World: Brooklyn as a guest at Talladega Superspeedway. Herman is a native of Salem, New Hampshire and is a personal trainer, model and actor. He recently received the designation of having the “best abs on the East Coast”, and was featured in Men’s Health magazine.

Testing, Testing, 123….: To prepare the Sheltra Motorsports team for round four of the 2009 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule, the third year ARCA team participated in a open test session on Wednesday, April 8 and Thursday April 9. The results were solid with Sheltra leaving his mark as the fastest car in Wednesday’s afternoon session and the second fastest time overall in the two day event. The Sheltra Motorsports utilized both their superspeedway cars during the 16-hour session.

Watcha Haulin?: Crew Chief John Hayden has elected to use Sheltra Motorsports Chassis No. 1 this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway. This is the same piece the team raced with in Sheltra’s inaugural superspeedway debut at Talladega in 2007. Since the 16th place finish, the team converted the former Richard Childress Racing chassis from a Chevrolet to a Dodge Charger during the off-season. It will be run for just the second time in Sheltra’s career. Chassis number 17 will serve as the team’s back-up automobile. That former Richard Childress Racing entry is a new addition to the team and was tested at Talladega Superspeedway earlier this month.

Points Check: After round three on the 2009 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule, Patrick Sheltra sits first in the championship standings accumulating 620 points. Sheltra is tied with Parker Klingerman for the top-spot. Car owner Grace Sheltra remains in the top-five in the car owner standings.

Keeping The Streak Alive: For 24 consecutive races, Sheltra Motorsports has fielded a car for Patrick Sheltra that run in the top-10 (at one point or another) for all events reverting back to the 2008 ARCA RE/MAX Series season opener at Daytona International Speedway. The team added their 23rd race by finishing second in the ARCA RE/MAX Carolina 200 at Rockingham Speedway. During this period, the team has amassed one win, six top-fives and 11 top-10 finishes. The team’s best qualifying effort occurred at Rockingham Speedway last weekend where Sheltra awarded himself with a career best run of third. The team has led five races at Rockingham Speedway (2009), Salem Speedway (2009) Kansas Speedway (2008), Cayuga Motor Speedway (2008), and Talladega Superspeedway (2008), for a total of 109 laps.

Sheltra Motorsports, Talladega Superspeedway Pre-Race Quotes: Patrick Sheltra, driver of the No. 60 Buffalo Wings & Rings Dodge Charger:

On Rockingham Speedway: “It was a good day for the team. We had BuckeUpApparel.com onboard for the race and were able to give them a satisfying second place finish. The car was a lot better than last year at Rockingham and I think we’ll be even stronger when we go back to the track in October.”

On Talladega Superspeedway: “It’s weird to have Talladega so early in the schedule but we’ll try and use the momentum we have as an advantage for the race this weekend. We have a good car, so I can’t wait for the green flag.”

On Restrictor Plate Racing: “It’s literally a chess-match at 200 miles per hour. It’s a lot of fun but the race is truly a mental game. A lot of trust goes into restrictor plate racing and I hope that everyone will use their head on Friday and we have a great race.”

On Buffalo Wings & Rings On-Board For Talladega: “I’m stoked to have such a caliber corporation like Buffalo Wings & Rings on the hood this weekend at Talladega. Their support of this race team means a lot to me. We are hoping to take them back to victory lane on Friday afternoon.”

On The Attendance Of MTV’s Scott Herman At Talladega: “A lot of great things are happening to this team right now and having Scott here for the race on Friday is overwhelming. We are hoping to show him a good time in our “Real World” and look forward to making him a race fan for life.”

On Being Tied For The Points: “It’s a great feeling but it’s way too early to be thinking about points. We’re only three races in and a lot of things can happen. With that being said, we still have to go out there and do the best we can each and every week and I know that the points will fall in line. I hope we’re at the top come season’s end.”

Sheltra Motorsports, Talladega Superspeedway Pre-Race Quotes: Grace Sheltra, owner of the No. 60 Buffalo Wings & Rings Dodge Charger:

On Rockingham: “It was another good weekend for the Sheltra Motorsports team. We were hoping to make it back-to-back victories in the ARCA RE/MAX Series, but we’ll take a second and try again Friday at Talladega.”

On Talladega: “It’s a hold your breath race for 94 laps. We have a good car and Patrick has really been doing his job as the driver. We’re looking forward to backing up our top-five performance from last year with a win this weekend.”

On Points: “It’s great to be at the top of the standings right now. We’re going to do everything in our power to make sure we don’t slide back. Our goal is to be the 2009 ARCA RE/MAX Series champions and I think we’re making a statement early on that we’re serious about making it a reality.”
