New Auto Show Opens At Auditorium Friday

Entertainment Planned

The first major new automobile show here in several years will open at Memorial Auditorium Friday at 2 p.m. It is sponsored by Spartanburg's franchised dealers.

Almost all makes of 1954 model automobiles, including practically all body styles, will be shown. Visitors will have an opportunity to see the many advances in automotive engineering and design of recent years.

Included on the program are cash and other awards and prizes, a fashion show, entertainment and a slogan contest.

The show will be held from 2 till 11 p.m. Friday and from 1 till 11 p.m. Saturday.

Belk-Hudson Co. is arranging a women's fashion show Friday afternoon at 4.

The Echo Inn Cloggers, dancers of Hendersonville will perform Friday night at 8:30.

Graham Jackson, versatile musician of Atlanta, will perform Saturday from 3 till 9:30.

Cash awards are planned. A television set will be given away Saturday night. Several door prizes will be given away each night.

Drawings will be held at 10 each night.

The State Highway Patrol will sponsor a safety booth at the show. The dealers are sponsoring a safety slogan contest at all junior and senior high schools of the county. Slogans will be turned in at the safety booth at the show. Prizes will be awarded to four winners.

Judges will be Lt. Grover Kinsey of the State Highway Patrol, City Police Chief Ralph Prince and Mrs. Florence Burch.
