Hollywood Stuntman Barrett Set For Truck Debut Promoting First Directorial Piece

TALLADEGA, Ala. (October 21, 2015) - - With Halloween just a week away when the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) takes center stage at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway this Saturday, October 24, it wouldn’t be out of character to see the theme of traditional costumes to run amuck at the 2.66-mile superspeedway.

But, for Stanton Barrett, he’s bringing his own themed ensemble for the fred’s 250 fueled by Coca-Cola, specially designed vehicle with scenes printed on the truck and Stanton hanging off the side of a helicopter filming.

Still receiving praise for his recent directorial debut, Navy SEALs vs. Zombies, Stanton Barrett in his No. 91 navysealsvszombies.com Chevrolet Silverado is looking to pull off a spooktactular performance in his first career series start.

And while Barrett has finessed a solid NASCAR schedule throughout the years and a successful career in Hollywood, Barrett returns to Talladega Boulevard for the first time in 10 years.

“It’s hard to believe the last time I raced at Talladega was in 2005,” said Barrett. “Restrictor plate racing is what it is. We all know that. It’s a chess match at 200 miles per hour. Great time to promote our fun action film that fits the Halloween holiday and looking to loyal NASCAR fans to support buying or renting it.”

Available now on Blu-ray, DVD at most major retailers and On Demand or download from digital providers, Navy Seals vs Zombies will serve as the primary sponsor along with Anchor Bay and BarCode Entertainment

Rick Fox (Former NBA player, Dope, "One Tree Hill", "Sharknado 3"), Michael Dudikoff ("American Ninja series", Olympus Has Fallen), Molly Hagan ("iZombie", Election, Some Kind of Wonderful, "Instant Mom"), Ed Quinn ("Revenge", "Mistresses", "True Blood"), Olympian LoLo Jones and real Navy SEALs star in the upcoming action horror thriller Navy SEALs vs. Zombies.

The film was released on Blue Ray, DVD and On Demand on Tuesday, October 6 from Anchor Bay Entertainment and is directed by Barrett (NASCAR driver and Hollywood stuntman) in his directorial debut.

“The movie has been available for about a month now and we’ve gotten a lot of positive media and seems to be selling well,” added Barrett, whose best finish at Talladega is 15th in 1999. “The chance to run Talladega allows us to accomplish a lot. It’s a moment that allows me to return to one of the fastest tracks in the sport, but also a huge opportunity to promote navysealsvszombies.com with sports most loyal fans.

“The truck should be really competitive this weekend. Paul Andrews and the crew worked hard to finesse it as needed for plate racing and with a strong motor from PME, I know a lot about drafting and will put ourselves in contention for the end of the race.”

Of course, while strategic strategies are equally crucial in Hollywood and in NASCAR, Barrett also knows the film, which also features actual Navy Seals playing leading roles utilizing realistic tactics puts it audience on edge, much like what’s expected during the 94-lap roar.

“There’s a lot that you can compare from Talladega to Hollywood,” Barrett explained. “From aligning with the right people, having good equipment and most of all having trust, these are all key components of restrictor plate racing too. We can’t predict what’s going to happen on Saturday afternoon, but we’re going to do all we can to be up front all day and just hope in the end we don’t come out looking like a zombie.”

Of course, adding further significance to Barrett’s return to Talladega and truck series debut, carrying the No. 91 this weekend is equally as important to the Bishop, California native.

“I started my NASCAR career in 1991, ran 91 in many of my first Busch Series races, so it’s only fitting to carry the No. 91 for my truck debut,” sounded Barrett. Just as important as his truck debut, Barrett also has another mission.

His goal this weekend is to raise $25,000 for the Vital Warrior charity.

Vital warrior was founded by former Navy Seal Mikal Vega who stared in the movie Navy Seals vs. Zombies.

“I am very excited to that the film allowed me to have meet Mikal, and now using NASCAR as a platform to raise awareness and the funds to help his organization continue and grow its success saving lives and families. We can show the power of NASCAR and the movie community for a greater cause to help others,” Barrett added.

The fred’s 250 fueled by Coca-Cola (94 laps / 250 miles) is the 19th of 23 events on the 2015 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series schedule. The first practice session of the weekend begins on Friday, October 23 from 12:00 p.m. – 12:55 p.m. A final session has been etched in for later in the day from 2:00 p.m. – 2:55 p.m. Qualifying is set for race day, Saturday, October 24 scheduled to lift off at 9:30 a.m. The 32-truck starting field will take the green flag shortly after 12:00 p.m. with live coverage on FOX, the Motor Racing Network (Radio) and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio (Satellite Radio, Channel 90.
