Fernando Alonso se convierte en campeón mundial de Fórmula 1 en Brasil

Brasil – El español Fernando Alonso conquistó por primera vez el título de campeón mundial de la Fórmula 1, en el circuito de Interlagos, en Brasil.

Alonso largó en la primera posición, seguido por el colombiano Juan Pablo Montoya y Kimi Räikkönen. Durante la salida hubo un accidente entre los coches de David Coulthard y los dos Williams.

Montoya consiguió pasar Alonso y se quedó en primer lugar. Räikkönen conquistó la segunda posición después de la primera parada del español en los boxes.

Esta situación perduró hasta el final de la carrera. Pero, a pesar de Alonso haber quedado en tercero, la posición fue suficiente para él acumular la cantidad de puntos necesarios para coronarse campeón mundial.
