DuQuoin Recap: After finishing second at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds in 2008, Patrick Sheltra and his Sheltra Motorsports team had high hopes for this past Monday’s Southern Illinois 100. After qualifying 10th, Sheltra was quickly on the move before succumbing to engine failure early in the event. Sheltra finished 31st.

One Year Ago: Indiantown, Florida native Patrick Sheltra tackled a road-course for the first time in his stock car career last September at New Jersey Motorsports Park (NJMP) with solid results. After recovering from a fuel-pickup issue in practice, Sheltra circled the course to qualify 21st before making his signature mark towards the front. Sheltra joined a number of the teams on pit road for a caution which put Sheltra 11th in the running order. Mother Nature arrived seconds later forcing ARCA RE/MAX Series officials to call the rain-shortened event with just 48 laps complete.

Get Ready For Rights & Lefts: For the second time since 2001 the ARCA RE/MAX Series will compete on a road course. This weekend the highly diverse racing sanction will compete at the newly constructed (2008) New Jersey Motorsports Park (NJMP) at the Thunderbolt Raceway in Millville, New Jersey.

Testing, Testing, 1.2.3.: Last month, Sheltra Motorsports participated in a private test session at New Jersey Motorsports Park. The team spent the day dialing in their No. 60 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS while Patrick Sheltra reacquainted himself with the 14-turn facility. The team was very pleased with their lap times and feel the extra track time will put them in contention in Sunday’s The South Jersey Building Trades 150.

Program; Get Your Program: Buffalo Wings & Rings Racing driver Patrick Sheltra will be featured in the exclusive race program for Sunday’s The South Jersey Building Trades 150. Sheltra talks about his first experience at NJMP last year, the track and why it’s important for the ARCA RE/MAX Series to compete on a road course.

The Coach Is Back: After taking a well-deserved race off 2005 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) champion Ted Musgrave will be back in action with Sheltra Motorsports as the driving coach for the 23-year old phenom. Musgrave is no stranger to road course racing as he competed at both Infineon Raceway and Watkins Glen International during his long tenure in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS). Musgrave will also serve as Sheltra’s driving coach for his upcoming NASCAR Nationwide Series events as well.

Come By For An Autograph: Patrick Sheltra will stop by the Toad Fish Bar & Grill Saturday, September 12 at 9:00 p.m. and sign autographs for the New Jersey area race fans. NASCAR Nationwide Series Plans To Be Announced Soon: Sheltra Motorsports will announce their plans for the remainder of the 2009 NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) season in the near future. Sheltra made his third career NNS start and first of the season last month at Daytona International Speedway driving the No. 81 D.H. Griffin-Quality Turf Dodge Charger for MacDonald Motorsports.

Points Check: After round 17 on the 2009 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule, Patrick Sheltra sits eighth in the championship standings accumulating 3425 points. Just 160 points separate Sheltra from the fifth position. Car owner Grace Sheltra remains solidly in the top-10 in the car owner standings.

Sheltra Motorsports, New Jersey Motorsports Park Pre-Race Quotes: Patrick Sheltra, driver of the No. 60 Buffalo Wings & Rings Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS:

On DuQuoin State Fairgrounds: “There’s no way to put it other than it was disappointing. We really should have been a contender to win that race. The monkey for whatever reason just won’t get off our back.”

On New Jersey Motorsports Park: “I’m looking forward to my second visit to New Jersey Motorsports Park this weekend. It’s a neat place. It has grass this year (laughs). I wasn’t sure what to expect when it came down to road course racing. It’s not easy but it’s a lot of fun too. I’m hoping we can walk away with a top-five for the Buffalo Wings & Rings Racing team.”

On The New Jersey Motorsports Park Test: “The test I felt went better than expected. It was pretty good. We worked all day with the setup of the car and I was able to have Michael McDowell (former ARCA RE/MAX Series driver) climb into our car and help us diagnose our cons a little bit. I was two second faster this year than I was last year so I see that as a positive direction.”

On The Key To Winning At New Jersey Motorsports Park: “Keeping your brakes intact and staying on the course. We were able to do most for that last year and we walked away with a good finish. I’m hungry for a return to the top-five, so I’m hoping we can pull it off with a little luck and strategy on Sunday.”

On The Goals For The Final Four Races: “Make the most of them. We are a good team; a strong team and we deserve to be running in the top-five every week. We’ had our share of bad luck, probably more than anyone else and that has kept out of contention. We still can win races and that’s what we are going to focusing on doing these last four races.”

Sheltra Motorsports, New Jersey Motorsports Park Pre-Race Quotes: Grace Sheltra, owner of the No. 60 Buffalo Wings & Rings Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS:

On DuQuoin State Fairgrounds: “I know everyone was disappointed with the finish at DuQuoin. Everyone knew we were there despite the finish. We can’t change what happen just move forward and try for a nice rebound this weekend.”

On New Jersey Motorsports Park: “Patrick really enjoys the challenges of a road course. He has learned a lot over the past two years and I think with the addition of Ted (Musgrave, driving coach) he can help Patrick immensely on Sunday and we should be in contention for a good run.”

On The Goals For The Final Four Races: “The Sheltra Motorsports team has really had it’s up and down points this year. We are a great team with a talented bunch of guys who work real hard to win each and every week. We cannot win the championship but we can win more races and that’s what we want to do for all of our marketing partners and everyone who supports this Sheltra Motorsports team.”
