Ugh, what a boring race today. It was amusing to hear the commentators on ESPN's staff attempt to make Pocono seem like it was an exciting, essential two races on the circuit. Yet, just earlier last week I heard an analyst on the radio high suggest that NASCAR take swift action in removing this joke of a track from the schedule completely in favor of more competitive venues. I would think there is merrit to this argument when even the drivers complain about the grueling nature of Pocono Raceway. I reckon that this will go over like the tires did at the Brickyard, however. NASCAR will take no action citing some blah blah blah as the reason Long Pond will stay on the schedule.

Actually, I've met one of the design consultants for Pocono. Dick Fleck is a member of the Living Legends of Racing based in Daytona Beach, Florida. He hails from College Town Pennsylvania but lives the winter half in Daytona. Spending most of his time racing on dirt, he was one of the major voices in the development of Pocono. Mr. Fleck is a very polite and appreciative gentleman who is happy to sign an autogrpah at the drop of a dime. However, with that aside, I believe it's safe to say that this track provides lacluster racing, and poor spectating views, according to attendees I've spoke. I just wanted to drp a quick line before I head out on vacation for a little while. For the second week in a row, NASCAR owes the fans an apology.
