General Motors of Canada Announces Vue Pricing

The Saturn brand has seen a major jump in its May sales after General Motors revitalized its lineup. One of the more popular auto models in Saturn’s lineup is the Saturn Vue - a midsize crossover introduced in 2002. Recently, General Motors of Canada announced the pricing for the redesigned 2008 Saturn Vue.

For the XE trim package with a front-wheel drive configuration, price starts at $26,990. For the all-wheel drive Vue XE, the price tag reads $31,275. For the front-wheel drive XR trim level, that version will cost $31,335. For the all-wheel drive version of the Vue XR, pricing starts at $33,920. The sports-oriented Red Line trim is also available in front-wheel or all-wheel drive configurations. The Vue Red Line with front-wheel drive configuration is priced at $36,020 while the all-wheel drive Red Line has a price tag saying $38,605.

An advantage that the 2008 Vue has on its predecessor is the number of standard features even for the base model. Even with the added standard features, the 2008 Vue is priced relatively lower than 2007 Vue that is equipped with the same features. These are offered to make the Vue a more enticing choice in the competitive crossover SUV segment of the auto market.

“The 2008 Saturn Vue continues the product revitalization at Saturn that has seen four all-new models introduced in the last two years,” says Mike Speranzini, the Director of Saturn Canada. “The all-new Saturn Vue is a technically sophisticated and refined crossover that is attractive, safe, versatile and great to drive. Given these strengths and the very competitive pricing that make it an excellent value, we expect to attract new customers with the Saturn Vue and Saturn’s positive customer experience they can count on at our Saturn retailers.”

The 2008 Saturn Vue is offered with a wide choice of engines. One of the powerplants offered for the Vue is a 2.4-liter Ecotec engine with the variable valve timing feature which reduces the amount of fuel consumed by the engine. The smallest engine in the lineup is coupled to a four-speed electronically controlled gearbox. The 2.4-liter engine is capable of producing 164 horsepower.

Another engine offered is the 3.5-liter V6 engine which is offered with the Saturn Vue EX all-wheel dive models. It can produce as much as 222 horsepower and 219 lb-ft of torque. Its components are known to be reliable as Saturn SL2 parts.

For the XR and Red Line trim levels, the Vue is offered with a double overhead camshaft 3.6-liter V6 engine with the variable valve timing feature. The said engine can produce as much as 257 horsepower and 248 lb-ft of torque.

A hybrid powertrain will also be available for the Saturn Vue Green Line. The hybrid version of the Vue will be introduced later this year.

One of the most striking attributes of the Vue is its European styling cues which it gets from the Opel Antara. Its interior luxury is complemented by a well-designed suspension system which gives the crossover SUV a smooth ride and responsive handling. According to the manufacturers, the Vue’s suspension assembly includes “front and rear stabilizer bars, MacPherson strut independent front suspension and independent multi-link rear suspension”.
