29 November 2017

ATLANTA—David J. LeValley, special agent in charge (SAC), FBI Atlanta Field Office, in conjunction with Chief Erika Shields, Atlanta Police Department, announce the following arrest involving the July 2017 shooting of a female and an Uber driver in Atlanta, Georgia.

Tavoris Ferrell, age 31, of Atlanta, Georgia, was arrested by Tampa, Florida based FBI agents and Pinellas County, Florida Sheriff’s Department on November 28, at Clearwater, Florida. Ferrell, an Atlanta Police Top Ten Fugitive, is charged with aggravated assault for an incident that occurred on July 28, 2017 wherein he is alleged to have shot his girlfriend at close range during an argument and then proceeded to shoot an Uber driver at a nearby intersection. Ferrell incurred several addition local charges during the efforts there to apprehend him.

During the July 28th incident, Ferrell was out on bond on a 2015 murder charge, the trial of which was about to get under way in Atlanta.

After learning that Ferrell fled to Florida, the FBI obtained a federal Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution (UFAP) warrant.

Ferrell is currently being detained at the Pinellas County Detention Facility where he awaits extradition back to Atlanta.

The above are merely allegations and the public should be reminded that all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
