Efficient Infiniti Driveshaft for Better Performance

Aside from the engine, other components are needed to make a vehicle move. The transmission and driveshaft also come into play. The luxury vehicle, Nissan Infiniti, is very well aware of this, and thus opts to integrate an efficient driveshaft in every vehicle manufactured since 1989. The Nissan Infiniti driveshaft is just one of the many elements through which the power of the engine passes.

In the early days of the automobile, a chain drive or belt drive mechanisms were used in place of the driveshaft. At present, the Infiniti driveshaft distributes the power coming from the transmission to the axle or the wheel. The rear has a differential that slows down its speed before transferring the power to the axles. As the road’s surface changes, the tires, axle, and differential move up and down. A pair of universal joints is integrated into the Infiniti driveshaft for a consistent power delivery to the wheels. The driveshaft, transmission, and rear differential benefit from the universal joints as these ensure that the driveshaft is aligned to the transmission and that the rear differential is providing the right amount of power.

However, the operation at the front is very different since both suspension and steering are considered. A constant velocity joint is used in the driveshaft for front wheel drive vehicles. Aside from being more flexible, it can benefit the movement when the tires are being steered especially when a slip joint is also used. Short driveshaft is commonly used and if paired with a constant velocity joint, less vibration will be produced.

Due to its constant operation, the Infiniti driveshaft is prone to suffer from corrosion and other harmful substances. Hearing a grinding noise just before the joints is often a sign that the Infiniti driveshaft is in need of an immediate replacement.
