WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) published a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for $60 million in Advanced Transportation and Congestion Management Technologies Deployment Program (ATCMTD) grants to fund new technologies that improve transportation systems.

The ATCMTD has different focus areas each year and, this year for the first time, includes racial equity, environmental justice and access to opportunity. The program can also support electric-vehicle charging and other technologies that help reduce emissions.

“These grants encourage the use of cutting-edge technologies that will make transportation greener and improve access to jobs and other opportunities for the public,” said Acting Federal Highway Administrator Stephanie Pollack.

Established under the Fixing America's Surface Transportation (FAST) Act, the ATCMTD program works to improve the performance of U.S. transportation systems, reduce traffic congestion and improve the safety of the traveling public.

Since 2016, the program has provided more than $256 million for projects in 25 states and the District of Columbia.

The ATCMTD program provides funding to help states, local governments, transit agencies and metropolitan planning organizations install advanced technologies at large scale that can serve as national models and improve safety and reduce travel times for drivers and transit riders. State departments of transportation, local governments, transit agencies, metropolitan planning organizations and other eligible entities are invited to apply. The NOFO is available at https://www.grants.gov/web/grants/view-opportunity.html?oppId=334272
