THE MOTORCARS IN JAPAN.

Two of the motorcars in the New York to Paris race, the Italian Zust and the French De Dion, were reported yesterday at Tokio, wither they had proceeded from Yokohama. They will go northward along the coast to the Straits of Tsugar, separating Nippon from Yezzo, and then take the ship for Vladivostok, going thence overland to Paris. The American Thomas car is not far behind its two foreign competitors, and may yet leave Japan on the same ship with them.

A glance at the map indicates that motoring along the east coast of Japan may not be the easiest going in the world, while the perils and obstructions of the Trans-Siberian route now chosen will be quite sufficient to enable the motorists to earn all the glory they could have won if it had been possible to adhere to the route originally chosen.
