Motorcar Whistles.

Publication: The New York Times
Date: 30 October 1908
To the Editor of The New York Times:

Doubtless many travelers in vehicles of all sorts experience the same difficulty as I have in distinguishing the whistle of the fire engine from that of many automobiles. At best, it is no easy matter to keep out of the way of these flying menaces to traffic. It strikes me there there are varieties enough among automobile horns to make it unnecessary to infringe on the Fire Department's peculiar kind of “sound.” Could there not be a law prohibiting this?
