Bus-Truck Crash in Egypt Kills 8 Americans

Egyptian officials say a tour bus slammed into a parked truck Sunday, killing eight American tourists and injuring at least 19 others, along with the Egyptian bus driver and a tour guide.

The MENA news agency says the tour bus was shuttling passengers between Aswan to Abu Simbel when the truck was struck.

Road accidents are common in Egypt due in part to inadequate driver training and poor road conditions.

Fourteen other foreign tourists were killed in two separate crashes in Egypt in recent months.

Authorities say as many as 8,000 people die yearly on Egyptian roads.
