Chinesisches Unternehmen Nanjing übernimmt Rover

London (Großbritannien), 22.07.2005 - Gleich zwei chinesische Unternehmen konkurrierten um die Übernahme des insolventen Automobilunternehmens Rover. Neben der Firma Nanjing, die den Zuschlag bekommen hat, bewarb sich auch das Unternehmen Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp (SAIC) um die traditionsreiche Marke.

Nanjing hat auch bereits Pläne für die Zukunft. Ein Teil der Autoproduktion soll nach China verlegt werden und ein Teil soll in Großbritannien belassen werden. In Großbritannien sollen auch Abteilungen für Forschung und Entwicklung sowie für Technik errichtet werden.
