Volvo wird an chinesischen Automobilhersteller verkauft

Dearborn (Vereinigte Staaten), 23.12.2009 - Der amerikanische Mutterkonzern Ford des schwedischen Autobauers Volvo ist sich offenbar mit dem chinesischen Automobilhersteller Geely handelseinig geworden. Volvo wird verkauft. Der Vertrag soll Anfang 2010 unterzeichnet werden. Einen Verkaufspreis nannte Ford zunächst nicht. Der Spiegel nennt jedoch unter Berufung auf informierte Kreise einen Erlös von rund zwei Milliarden US-Dollar. Vor zehn Jahren hatte Ford die schwedische Automarke für 6,5 Milliarden US-Dollar erworben. Inzwischen schreibt das schwedische Traditionsunternehmen allerdings rote Zahlen.

Volvo stellte 2008 mit 20.000 Beschäftigten fast 375.000 Fahrzeuge her. Trotz einem Absatzrückgang galt das Unternehmen jedoch als solide und zukunftsträchtig. Der chinesische Hersteller Geely produziert in China jährlich rund 200.000 Fahrzeuge und zählt daher zu den kleineren Fahrzeugproduzenten in dem Land. In Europa ist die Firma noch kein Begriff, da bisher noch keine Fahrzeuge des chinesischen Herstellers auf dem europäischen Markt angeboten werden.
