MOORESVILLE, North Carolina (September 23, 2011) - - Charles Evans Jr. took another major leap in his growth on the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards tour when he strapped into his No. 99 Elevator Transportation Services Ford Fusion this past Tuesday at Kansas Speedway.

After tackling some of the toughest short tracks on the circuit, Evans Jr. credentials have been elevated in the series allowing him the opportunity to qualify and compete in the Kansas Lottery 98.9 from the 1.5-mile oval on Friday, October 7. The final intermediate track will offer crucial seat time for the former INEX Legend Car Series driver as his presence on the tour is expected to strengthen in 2012.

Guided by crew chief Howard Bixman, the team spent the eight-hour session successfully getting their equipment dialed in to their driver’s liking while also making routine adjustments to their No. 99 Elevator Transportation Services Ford Fusion as the track’s characteristics completed its cycle.

Overall, the Friendswood, Texas native posted unofficially the 19th quickest time with a time of 33.722 seconds or 160.133 miles per hour. The Mooresville, North Carolina-based team now returns to their shop to put the final touches on their automobile for the 18th ARCA Racing Series contest of the year.

I am content with what we learned at Kansas Speedway,” said Evans Jr. “Howard (Bixman) and the whole Team BCR team gave it their all throughout the day and we continued to settle down the car and make it faster. Within the last couple hours, I feel like we made some significant gains in the right direction that will help us tremendously when we return in two weeks.

It was a huge eye-opener as far as my career is concerned. Jumping from these small and tight short tracks to a speedway track like Kansas which carries higher speeds and a different type of “focus.” It was definitely beneficial for us to participate in the test, because we can try to pick up right where we left off.”

Bixman offered similar encouragement from the session.

“For never being on anything bigger than a 5/8 mile track, CJ did very well,” the Michigan native said. “We were very conservative on the set up along with him just logging laps in the morning. In the afternoon when he gained more comfort, we gave him a less conservative set up and he ran very good competitive laps in race trim.

We kept a very comfortable set up under him all day. The whole focus was seat time and working on aerodynamics mostly being this is a brand new Ford Fusion that we built for him. The crew has worked long hours to get this new car built along with the other new car for Toledo. I want to sincerely thank the crew along with Nick Ramey from RoushYates Engines for all the hard work and extra effort. I'm very proud of CJ. He adjusted well, gained good quality seat time and we learned a lot about this new Ford Fusion.”

The Kansas Lottery 98.9 (100 laps / 150 miles) is the 18th of 19 events on the 2011 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule. The 11th ARCA event held at Kansas Speedway is a one-day show. Practice begins Friday, October 7 with a two hour and 15 minute practice session planned from 9:00 a.m. -11:15 a.m. Menards Pole by Ansell qualifying is slated to begin later in the day at 5:35 p.m. The field will take the green flag approximately two hours later at 7:30 p.m. The event will be televised live on SPEED with additional race coverage including live timing and scoring throughout the 1,330th race for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards since it was formed in 1953 will be available through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.com presented by ARCANation.com.
