Of course a cultural icon as important as the automobile would inspire artists, and musicians in particular.

The main feature in the Audio Playlist is lists of songs about cars, trucks, trucking, road trips, and other topics within the scope of this Library. Also included in this section are automotive articles that cross over into music topics, lists of songs used in automotive television, film, and marketing, and automotive art used in album covers and music promotion.

Due to copyright restrictions, most of the following songs are not available for listening directly from The Crittenden Automotive Library, but song names & artists can be taken to YouTube for music videos or an online music program such as iTunes or Spotify for listening.

West Virginia, mountain mama, Take me home, country roads.
Roll On (Eighteen Wheeler)Alabama1984
Roll on highway, roll on along,
Roll on daddy 'till you get back home.
Roll on family, roll on crew,
Roll on momma like I asked you to do.
And roll on eighteen-wheeler roll on. (roll on!)
Eighteen Wheels And A Dozen RosesKathy Mattea1987
Eighteen wheels and a dozen roses,
Ten more miles on his four day run.
few more songs on the all night radio,
And he'll spend the rest if his life with the one that he loves.
Richard Petty FansAlabama1992
A song commemorating the final year of Richard Petty's NASCAR career and his "farewell tour" season on the 1992 album American Pride, it is a rewrite of a tribute to their fans originally titled "The Fans" and released on their original January 1986 Greatest Hits album.
Some Girls DoSawyer Brown1992
She turned up her nose as she walked by my Cadillac.
From the corner of my eye I saw you and you laughed.
You were sittin' on the swing on your front porch,
Paintin' your nails like you was bored
And you yelled "she was sure impressed with you!"
There Ain't Nothin' Wrong With The RadioAaron Tippin1992
I've got sixteen speakers crossin' my back dash,
A little bobbin' dog watchin' everybody pass.
Dual antennas whippin' in the wind,
Lord, there ain't a country station that I can't tune in.
She ain't a Cadillac and she ain't a rolls,
But there ain't nothin' wrong with the radio.
Drive SouthAaron Tippin1992
We were always looking for true love,
With our heads in the clouds,
Just a little off course,
But I left that motor running,
Now if you're feeling down and out,
Come on baby drive south,
With the one you love,
Come on baby drive south.
Mercury BluesAlan Jackson1993
Well if I had money, I'd tell you what I'd do,
I go downtown buy a Mercury or two.
Crazy bout a Mercury, Lord I'm crazy bout a Mercury,
I'm gonna buy me a Mercury & cruise it up & down the road.
Written by K.C. Douglas and Robert Geddins, first recorded by Douglas in 1948 under the name "Mercury Boogie," it was renamed and covered by numerous artists in subsequent years. Alan Jackson would also record a version replacing "Mercury" with "Ford truck" for a Ford television commercial.
On The RoadLee Roy Parnell1993
On the road, where the night is black.
On the road, where you don't look back.
There's a white line in the distance,
Where it's goin' nobody knows.
If it's anywhere, you'll find it...on the road.
Pickup ManJoe Diffie1994
You can set my truck on fire, and roll it down a hill,
And I still wouldn't trade it for a Coupe DeVille.
I've got an eight-foot bed that never has to be made,
You know if it weren't for trucks we wouldn't have tailgates.
I met all my wives in traffic jams,
There's just something women like about a Pickup Man.
You Win My LoveShania Twain1995
I'm lookin' for a lover who can rev his little engine up.
He can have a '55 Chevy or a fancy little pick-up truck.
If he's got a cool Cadillac with a jacuzzi in the back I'm in, oh yeah,
'Cause I'm a classy little chassis who's a-huntin' for a heart to win.
Little Red RodeoCollin Raye1997
Oh, how fast can I go,
Gotta catch that little, red Rodeo.
She drove off with my heart,
I gotta let her know.
Need the girl in that little, red Rodeo,
Texas plates, candy-apple red Rodeo.
A song about a man chasing a woman in a red Isuzu Rodeo.
Life is a HighwayChris LeDoux1998
Tennessee to those LA nights,
The San Antone' to Vegas lights,
Life is a highway, I wanna ride it all night long.
If you're going my way, I wanna drive it all night long.
Originally Tom Cochrane's biggest hit, LeDoux's version changes the locations in the second verse to American places.
Riding With Private MaloneDavid Ball2001
It was way back in the corner of this old ramshackle barn,
With thirty years of dust and dirt on that green army tarp,
And when I pulled the cover off,
It took away my breath.
What she called a Chevy,
Was a sixty-six Corvette.
Chevrolet Corvette C2
Fast Cars and FreedomRascal Flatts2004
I see a dust trail following an old red Nova,
Baby blue eyes, your head on my shoulder,
Wait, baby, don't move, right there it is.
T-shirt hanging off a dogwood branch,
That river was cold, but we gave love a chance,
Yeah, yeah, to me, you don't look a day over fast cars and freedom,
That sunset river bank first time feeling.
Mercury BluesDwight Yoakam2004
Well if I had money, I'd tell you what I'd do,
I go downtown buy a Mercury or two.
Crazy bout a Mercury, Lord I'm crazy bout a Mercury,
I'm gonna buy me a Mercury & cruise it up & down the road.
Written by K.C. Douglas and Robert Geddins, first recorded by Douglas in 1948, renamed "Mercury Blues" and covered by numerous artists in subsequent years.
Jesus Take the WheelCarrie Underwood2005
She had a lot on her mind, and she didn't pay attention.
She was going way too fast,
Before she knew it she was spinning on a thin black sheet of glass.
She saw both their lives flash before her eyes, She didn't even have time to cry.
Life is a HighwayRascal Flatts2006
Life is a highway, I wanna ride it all night long.
If you're going my way, I wanna drive it all night long.
Originally Tom Cochrane's biggest hit, it was covered by Rascal Flatts for the 2006 Disney/Pixar film Cars.
Dirt Road AnthemJason Aldean2011
Yeah I'm chilling on a dirt road, Laid back swervin' like I'm George Jones.
Smoke rollin' out the window, An ice cold beer sittin' in the console.
Memory lane up in the headlights, Has got me reminiscing on the good times.
I'm turning off the real life, driving, that's right, I'm hittin' easy street in mud tires.
CruiseFlorida Georgia Line2012
Baby you a song, you make me wanna roll my windows down and cruise,
Down a back road blowin' stop signs through the middle,
Every little farm town with you.
In this brand new Chevy with a lift kit,
it'd look a hell lot better with you up in it.
So baby you a song,
You make me wanna roll my windows down and cruise.
Blue TacomaRussell Dickerson2017
It's in a blue Tacoma, California, white magnolia in your hair.
Rays of gold are shining on ya, ooh, if heaven is anywhere,
It's never running out of golden road, Always having your hand to hold.
Love You Too LateCole Swindell2018
She's out there rolling down some old interstate,
Wide open, wide open, couldn't make her stay.
Probably cranking up some new freedom song,
Wide open, wide open, won't pick up the phone.
While I'm dying here tonight, staring goodbye in the face,
Saying "I love you" too late.
Ridin' RoadsDustin Lynch2018
Ridin' roads that don't nobody go down,
A little trip through the country side.
These 38s makin' the world go 'round,
I hit a curb just to make you slide.
Only light is the flashing yellow,
Only thing that I want is your kiss.
I'm lovin' nothin' to do with you, baby,
Just ridin' roads on a night like this.
