Full Name: Bradford MacChesney Crittenden
Born: 9 May 1912 in San Jose, California
Died: 29 January 1982

The son of California State Senator Bradford S. Crittenden, Bradford M. Crittenden was a former attorney and San Joaquin County District Attorney who most notably served as Commissioner of the California Highway Patrol from 1959-1967.

Following his time with the CHP, he became Associate Director of the National Highway Safety Bureau's Traffic Safety Programs in Washington, D.C.. starting in July 1967 and serving until 1970.

From 1970 until his retirement in 1978, he was the Regional Advisor to NHTSA's Region IX office in San Francisco.

He owned farms in the San Joaquin Valley and retired to Stockton, California. He was married twice, first to Virginia Cookham from 1934 until her death in 1973, he then married Helen Harney in 1974.
