Surface and subsurface drainage, drainage systems, and drainage inspection are discussed in this video. The importance of routine repairs and preventive maintenance is emphasized, with examples of pothole repair, seal coating, and maintaining the crown of unpaved roads. Culvert and ditch inspection is urged during and after major storms as well as quarterly. Basic maintenance procedures are shown: clearing roadside ditches and culverts and preventing culvert scour, cleaning curbs, gutters and storm grates, and maintaining slope protection. Environmental issues, permits, and liability are briefly addressed.
