A retailer founded by Sam Walton in 1962. It's headquarters is in Bentonville, Arkansas, USA.

According to the 2011 Forbes Global 2000 list it was the 18th largest public corporation in the world, 9th place in companies from the United States and the next closest competitor in its category was ranked in 155th place on the list.

Formerly known as Wal-Mart, the company changed the spelling of the name to Walmart in 2008. The full corporate name is Wal-Mart Stores Inc. Subsidiary stores include wholesale store Sam's Club in the United States and Asda in the UK.

The company is large enough to operate its own trucking company for distribtion, Wal-Mart Transportation LLC. Wal-Mart Transportation is, by itself, one of the largest trucking operations in the world driving over half a billion miles a year.
