Full Name:  Count Wolfgang Graf Berghe von Trips
Nationality:  German

Former race car and Formula 1 driver.

Count von Trips died at Monza in 1961 while competing for the Formula 1 championship.  During the race, he had attempted to pass Jim Clark.  As von Trips attempted to get back in the racing line in front of Clark, their tires touched.  Both cars spun out of control and crashed.  von Trips' Ferrari hit a steel guardrail, came back across the track and hit a chain-link fence, killing 14 spectators and injuring many more.  Count von Trips was thrown from the vehicle, then the Ferrari flipped end-over-end, landing back in the middle of the track.  Count von Trips was dead.
