Biography
The following section is from a 2016 British Customs press release.
Allen’s competitive career started, as many then did, with flat tracking, until he sustained a serious leg injury. Following that, he took up drag racing, and was a pioneer of the pursuit of raw speed, as he became a highly successful drag racer. His goal was to set the absolute motorcycle land speed record though, and did so at 214.40 miles per hour in 1956 while riding in a legendary streamliner powered by a 500 cc Triumph Tiger engine called “The Texas Ceegar.”
