The Crittenden Automotive Library
February 9, 2007
The last few weeks have seen a lot of added material on the site. I've added more photos and articles from the U.S. Navy, including pictures of Dale Earnhardt Jr., Mark McFarland, and Jon Wood. We've also got a bundle of articles on model cars, selections from The Model Citizen column from Tom Geiger. There is also a group of articles from the Voice of America, most of them about the 2007 Paris-Dakar Rally. The Northern Illinois Streeters site now has an Articles section with previous N.I.S. news updates.
The major news of this month's edition is that February 2006 was the founding of the Cars and Racing Stuff Encyclopedia, the predecessor to the Crittenden Automotive Library. So, in essence, this is the one-year anniversary of the Library, because all of the Encyclopedia's material was transferred to the library.
So, looking back at the year, we have amassed over 100 articles, dozens of newsletters, some legislative material, over 750 photographs, and at least some information on over 1,250 topics including race results from over 100 events. Our major contributor has been the United States Military as a whole, with the Air Force and Navy contributing the most material.
Hopefully without the distractions of the past year, such as laying the foundation of the site's presentation of information and converting from Encyclopedia to Library, that Year Two will feature more information added weekly than Year One.
