Bean Enjoying Turn Around Season; Eyes Redemption At Winchester

WINCHESTER, Indiana (May 3, 2007) - - Dexter Bean seems to be making a statement early in the 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series (ARS) season. His statement consists of consistency, determination and domination. While two of the three points have been made clear within the last three races, Bean hopes to put a period to domination in Sunday’s Winchester ARCA 200 at Winchester Speedway.

On the heels of a third straight top-10 finish, Bean has moved to third in championship standings sitting just twenty markers from eight-time ARCA RE/MAX Series champion Frank Kimmel. What a turnaround year it has been. Last season, Bean motored into Winchester looking to keep in the same zip code as the reining champ. This weekend with another positive finish Bean could surpass the veteran and be on his way towards making Wisconsin history.

“Life is pretty good,” said Bean. “We’re starting to pick up right where we ended last season and that could be bad news for the rest of the competition.”

Indeed, at the end of his rookie season, Bean roared to life with one top-five, one pole and three top-10 finishes just missing four consecutive top-10s in a row with a 11th at Salem Speedway after claiming the pole at one of ARCA’s most demanding short tracks.

With a season-best qualifying performance of second two weeks ago at Salem Speedway, Bean answered that with a stunning and impressive runner-up finish leading up to a load of confidence as the ARS returns to the third short track race of the season.

“I feel like we can win this weekend, plain and simple,” continued Bean. “We were close at Salem . If we had one more restart, I think we would have won the race. But, we’ve worked even harder on that same car since Salem and we’re bringing a bullet to Winchester this weekend and I hope everyone is chasing us.”

Last year at Winchester Speedway, Bean started inside the top-15 and was racing towards a top-10 finish before mechanical problems erupted bringing what would have been the team’s first top-10 finish of the season to a disappointing 23rd place finish. With the bad luck train gone for now, Bean hopes to replenish the run he had last year and put a period to the missing piece of the puzzle on Sunday.

“I don’t think anyone knows how really bad we want to be in contention all year long. We want to be a threat. We don’t want to be one that anyone writes off. So far, that hasn’t been the case this season. But, we have to continue to keep plugging away like we’ve been doing and hope that our lucky charm (whatever it is) is glued on our car and takes this team to the winning circle.”

While BlackJack Racing is still searching for additional sponsorship of Bean’s No. 6 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, the team is glad to have local longtime supporter Five Star Telecom onboard this weekend as an associate sponsor.

Since their beginning in 1973, FST (Five Star Telecom), a long-time supporter of Bean’s racing career has become one of the largest interconnect companies in the Upper Midwest , with multiple locations serving the tri-state area.

Rolling into Winchester, Dexter Bean has 32 ARCA RE/MAX Series starts to his credit with three-top fives finishes and 10 top-10 efforts. He holds a career best finish of second at Salem Speedway (April 2007). He owns the 2006 ARCA Sim Factory pole award at Salem Speedway (September) while hoisting a career-best superspeedway time trials effort of fourth at Pocono Raceway (June 2006). Bean also has controlled the ARCA field for 114 laps in four races.

BlackJack Racing is still seeking additional primary and associate sponsors for the 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series season. For sponsorship inquiries, please contact Robert Weiss at rweiss9@wi.rr.com or 414.763.9231.

The Winchester ARCA 200 (200 laps/100 miles) is the sixth of 23 events on the 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. Practice begins Saturday, May 5 with an hour and a half (1:30pm-3:00pm Local Time) session planned. ARCA SIM Factory pole qualifying is slated for later in the afternoon at 4:15pm Local Time. The event will take the green flag on Sunday, May 6 shortly after 1:00pm Local Time. The event will not be televised. However, race coverage can be found online at arcaracing.com
