WINCHESTER, Indiana (May 3, 2007) - - Fresh off a successful debut in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (NCTS) at Kansas Speedway last Saturday, ARCA rookie Bryan Silas hopes to keep his confidence alive and his performances strong as the ARCA RE/MAX Series (ARS) returns to beating and banging for Sunday’s Winchester ARCA 200 at the breathtaking Winchester Speedway.
In his last go-around on a short track in the ARS, Silas turned some heads. In his second short track race of the season, the Florida native turned in an impressive eighth place finish, a career best in just 11 races.
Feeling good and pumped up, Silas can’t wait to tackle the half-mile bullring on Saturday (practice and qualifying) and Sunday (race). “I love racing on the short tracks,” said Silas who sits ninth in championship points heading into the sixth race of the season.
Despite his calm and quiet demeanor, Silas is feeling like a kid in a candy store when he climbs in his No. 11 Nortrax-Shell Rotella T-Palm Beach Grading (PBG). “I’m having a blast. We’re ahead of our game as far as our goals for this season which is bringing nothing but a positive influence around this team. It’s just a matter of time before our top-10 performances turn into top-fives and those finishes will eventually yield to victory lane.”
Nortrax, Shell Rotella T, Holland Pump and Palm Beach Grading (PBG) who were all apart of Silas’s emotional finish two weeks ago will continue to back the No. 11 Chevrolet this weekend.
“I can’t say enough about everyone supporting this team,” mentioned Silas. “From the crew to the sponsors and especially Andy Hillenburg. They all continue to give 150 percent every day. Hopefully our good fortunate and smart racing will continue to pay off on Sunday and reward us well in the point standings.”
Instead of sizzling in the Florida-heat, Silas has been spending this week at Fast Track Racing headquarters in Charlotte , North Carolina interacting with his team and help work on his machine for the 20th ARS event to be held at Winchester Speedway Sunday afternoon.
“We tested at Kentucky Speedway earlier this week and that went really well. I’m looking forward to our first race of the season there next Saturday night, but I’m concentrating on Winchester this weekend. Working with my team has been absolutely incredible. I’m able to bond, learn and teach. It all works out.”
Heading into Winchester, Silas has 11 ARCA RE/MAX Series starts to his credit with a career best finish of eighth at Salem Speedway (April 2007) while holding an additional top-10 performance at USA International Speedway (March 2007). He holds a career best short track time trials effort of eighth at Berlin Raceway (July 2006). A 16th place qualifying effort at Kansas Speedway (April 2007) and Talladega Superspeedway (October 2006) is Silas’s best Superspeedway run to date.
The Winchester ARCA 200 (200 laps/100 miles) is the sixth of 23 events on the 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. Practice begins Saturday, May 5 with an hour and a half (1:30pm-3:00pm Local Time) session planned. ARCA SIM Factory pole qualifying is slated for later in the afternoon at 4:15pm Local Time. The event will take the green flag on Sunday, May 6 shortly after 1:00pm Local Time. The event will not be televised. However, race coverage can be found online at arcaracing.com
