GLOCK Racing Team Finishes 22nd In Buckle-Up Kentucky 150
SPARTA, Kentucky (May 14, 2007) - - Michelle Theriault, a new face in ARCA RE/MAX Series (ARS) competition proved herself as a strong competitor by pulling together strong results in practice and qualifying before soldiering to a 22nd place finish in her speedway debut.
Theriault, making the second of several planned starts in the ARCA RE/MAX Series for sponsor GLOCK and Spraker Racing Enterprises this season looked to gather seat time and learn her way around Kentucky Speedway.
From practicing 14th to qualifying 16th, Theriault, one of three female competitors entered in the Buckle-Up Kentucky 150 had positioned herself strongly in the one of the most competitive Kentucky ARCA races to date.
At the start of the event, Theriault maintained her position in the top-20 staying on top of her game, learning the track, her Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS and more importantly the rest of her competition.
Pit stops occurred nearing lap 35 gave the female sensation an opportunity to bring her black and white No. 37 GLOCK Chevrolet to the attention of her crew opting for four Hoosier tires, Sunoco Racing fuel and a chassis adjustment to improve the handling of her automobile.
Despite hovering inside the top-20 for much of the event, the Connecticut native continued to battle the pack and show patience under the direction of spotter and team owner Jeff Spraker.
Theriault would fall two positions when the checkered flag flew collecting a respectable 22nd place effort, a career best for Theriault in only her second ARS start.
“It was a good day,” she said after the event. “We came here to Kentucky and completed our goals. I want to thank Jeff Spraker and his team and my sponsor GLOCK for giving me a great racecar all weekend long and the opportunity to race in the ARCA RE/MAX Series. I learned a whole bunch out there. We’re going to compete on some more speedways this season so this opportunity is getting me prepared for that. I think we turned some heads. We tested really well here and we were able to come back and run well, that’s an accomplishment in itself.”
She continued, “The difference between the ARCA RE/MAX Series and USAR Hooter’s Pro Cup Series is night and day. I really enjoy competing in the ARS, it’s surrounded by great people and I have one of the best teams in the garage area. I think we did everything right this weekend.”
Next up for Theriault and the GLOCK Racing team is heading back to competing in the NASCAR Busch East Series where she enters a double-header weekend on the heels of a satisfying eighth place finish and a new NASCAR record in BES (Busch East Series) competition in her debut last month at Greensville-Pickens Speedway.
The next venue for the group in the ARCA RE/MAX Series occurs when the series invades Michigan International Speedway next month for the running of the ARCA 200 on June 15.
