MOORESVILLE, North Carolina (May 16, 2007) - - On the heels of a successful speedway debut in the ARCA RE/MAX Series, Michelle Theriault refocuses her game towards a double header weekend in the NASCAR Busch East Series (NBES) hoping to improve on her stout eighth place performance last month at Greenville-Pickens Speedway.
In her first full season of competition in the NBES, Theriault along with her Spraker Racing Enterprises team hope to continue be the talk in the garage, informing the competition that her GLOCK, Inc. Chevrolet is locked and loaded and ready for the unique challenges this weekend will present.
“It will be a busy weekend, there’s no hiding that,” said Theriault, who sits eighth in the championship standings heading into the second event of the season. “We had a good run at Greensville-Pickens, but we’re ready for more, much more. I have a great sponsor in GLOCK, Inc. and my team led by Jeff Spraker is excited about our program and this weekend’s activities, our Wegner engines are stronger than ever, we just hope to keep the momentum going.”
Despite the hype surrounding the No. 37 GLOCK Racing team, Theriault remains focused knowing that she has a job to do. “It’s nice to see that we’re attracting some attention especially on the NASCAR side, but we can’t let that interrupt our goals for this weekend’s races. I’m going to be in the car a lot. I’m going to learn a lot. Everyone is watching us, seeing if we can back up our performance from Greenville-Pickens. I know we can. And I know we can post two top-five finishes on Friday and Sunday.”
Despite no prior experience at Elko Speedway (Friday), The former USAR Hooter’s Pro Cup competitor has experience at the brand new Iowa Speedway (Sunday) last season. Still, the inexperience of Elko doesn’t faze the only full-time NBES female competitor. “Jeff Spraker knows what he is doing. He is a great teacher and a great owner. He is helping me make the adjustments to become a better driver and I will be forever grateful. And our sponsor GLOCK, Inc. I can’t say enough. I know I couldn’t be happier to be associated with an organization that is excited to be involved in racing and supports my racing career 150 percent, it’s an awesome feeling.”
As far as Iowa , Theriault reflected, “I’m excited about going back to Iowa Speedway. The cars are very different between the Hooter’s and NASCAR cars, but the experience on the track is priceless. A track like Iowa , I will be able to give Jeff a little more feedback compared to a track that I’ve never been at before.”
Rewinding back to her ARCA speedway debut at Kentucky Speedway last Saturday night, Theriault carries the confidence from that run over to this weekend which fills a void that some rookie drivers face. “Knowing what we do at Kentucky is an amazing feeling. We’ve been able to prove in both series we are a threat. I’m a rookie, but we’re looking like veterans and it’s because everything has come together for this team. Our chemistry is awesome and we all work as a team. That attitude is going to carry our GLOCK Racing team into victory lane in the very near future.”
The Minnesota 150 (150 laps/56.25 miles) is the second of 14 events on the 2007 NASCAR Busch East Series schedule. Practice begins Friday with a two hour ( 1:15-3:15pm Local Time) session planned. Qualifying begins at 7:00pm Local Time with the green flag set to waive shortly after 9:00pm Local Time.
