Brewco Motorsports To Make Their Debut At Historic Ohio Track

TOLEDO, Ohio (May 17, 2007) - - On the heels of a eighth place finish last Saturday night at Kentucky Speedway, Phillip McGilton heads to Toledo Speedway ready for another inaugural debut with intentions of collecting his first top-five of his young ARCA career.

McGilton, a developmental driver for Kentucky ’s Brewco Motorsports looks to better his previous short track finish of seventh coming at Salem Speedway last month. With his chemistry with crew chief Shawn Parker continuing to grow stronger, the duo is looking forward to making their Toledo debut a successful one.

“We’re feeling pretty good about Toledo Speedway this weekend,” said McGilton who moved to fifth in the championship standings following his third top-10 finish of the season last weekend. “We spent a day testing at Toledo to learn the track. It’s a lot different than the other short tracks we’ve raced this year, but that’s a good thing. It won’t be a boring race.”

The Marion , Illinois native also knows that track position will play a crucial role in the outcome of the first of two Toledo ARCA races this season. “I learned in testing that track position is going to be important for this race, so we’re going to keep that in mind during the race. Another good run like Kentucky will put on back on track and that’s one of the goals for the weekend.

Consistency is fitting for McGilton the last several weeks in ARCA SIM Factory qualifying. The last three weeks, McGilton has gained 20 extra points thanks to his strong qualifying effort. At Kansas last month and Kentucky Speedway last weekend he was awarded with five extra points per event with his third place qualifying efforts. In the last short track event at Winchester Speedway, the Brewco bunch collected a season and career-best for McGilton outside pole, putting him second on the grid. The team plans to continue their qualifying trend this week.

“No surprise that our qualifying efforts have been stout the last couple of weeks,” McGilton sounded. “I can’t say enough about my Brewco Motorsports team. They give me cars capable of qualifying strong and we all believe that our first win together is just around the corner, maybe even this weekend.”

Picking up the sponsorship for McGilton’s entry this weekend is Midwest Equipment.

The Hantz Group 200 by Federated Auto Care (200 laps/100 miles) is the eighth of 23 events on the 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. Practice begins Saturday, May 19 with an hour and a half ( 12:30pm-2:00pm Local Time) session planned. ARCA SIM Factory pole qualifying is slated for later in the afternoon at 3:30pm Local Time. The event will take the green flag Sunday beginning at 12:00pm Local Time. The event will be televised live on SPEED with additional race coverage online at arcaracing.com
