ARCA RE/MAX Series Race No. 7, Buckle-Up Kentucky 150
Kentucky Speedway, Sparta , Kentucky

Race Information: Event: Buckle-Up Kentucky 150, Saturday, May 12 at 8:00 p.m. Local Time Track: Kentucky Speedway Qualifying: Saturday, May 12 at 4:00 p.m. Local Time; Track Length: 1.5-mile paved oval.

Winchester Recap: After overcoming some early race hiccups in practice, Bryan Silas started the third short track event of the 2007 season looking to put another top-10 in his resume. Early on it appeared Silas’s wish was going to come true. Unfortunately, the short track gremlins came out of their hole and a slew of problems in the second-half of the event relegated Silas to a 21st place finish.

Inaugural Kentucky Event: Silas will make his first ever ARCA RE/MAX Series start at Kentucky Speedway on Saturday night. While Silas’s resume includes the intermediate tracks of Chicagoland Speedway, Nashville Superspeedway, and Kansas Speedway, the Buckle-Up Kentucky 150 will be the first ever battle at Northern-Kentucky based track.

Looking Sharp: Nortrax, Shell Rotella-T, Holland Pump and Palm Beach Grading (PBG) will sponsor Silas’s No. 11 Chevrolet Monte Carlo this Saturday. The duo group of sponsors continues their foray into the ARCA RE/MAX Series (ARS) and will hold sponsorship of the Fast Track Racing entry.

Points Chase: Because of their disappointing finish last week, Silas slipped to 10th in the ARCA RE/MAX Series point standings trailing fellow Floridian Patrick Sheltra by just 10 points. Silas is 145 points behind his next closest competitors of Phillip McGilton and Justin Marks who are tied for seventh and eighth.

Testing, Testing, Testing: Bryan Silas and Fast Track Racing recently tested at Kentucky Speedway following their NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (NCTS) debut at Kansas Speedway two weeks ago. The team’s results were satisfying yielding momentum for the first of two ARS events at Kentucky Speedway this season.

Say It Again: Testing is a word that is becoming very popular in Silas’s vocabulary this year. Before heading to Kentucky Speedway, Silas will test with the best of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series at an open-test session at Lowes Motor Speedway on Thursday. The team will make a decision about attempting the next event for the NCTS at LMS next Friday night following the outcome of the session.

Fast Track Racing, Kentucky Speedway Pre-Race Quotes:
Bryan Silas, driver of the No. 11 Nortrax-Holland Pump-Shell Rotella-T-Palm Beach Grading Chevrolet Monte Carlo :

On Winchester : “A good finish slipped between our fingers at Winchester . We had a great day going and then it went the other way just as fast. It happens I guess. I was a little disappointed, but I’ve got to pick myself back up and head to Kentucky Speedway looking for a good finish.”

On The Kentucky Test: “The testing is really paying off for me. The more I’m in a racecar the more familiarize myself with the characteristics of an ARCA car. I’m surrounded by some great people who all want to see me do well. I think we have a competitive setup and a better motor, we should be just fine.”

On Kentucky Speedway : “I was told it was a lot like Kansas Speedway. It looks like Kansas Speedway but for me it’s nothing like Kansas . The track is very unique. There is a lot of room to race, but things could happen quickly. It should be a fun race. We race here twice this year; I’m looking forward to it.”

On Night Racing: “It’s cool. Plain and simple. The weather conditions are a lot different which makes it better for us drivers. The cars also handle a lot different with the weather changes, I’m sure we’ll fight that a little. We practice and qualify during the day and race at night; I think it’s going to be an exciting race for the fans and drivers.”
